WE HAVE MOVED!

Join The Reason We Learn @WOKESCREEN Discord Community! I'll show you how, you can read the "why" below too.

Last week, I sent an email to my paying subscribers here notifying you I would be relocating The Reason We Learn content production (writing) and distribution (videos and podcasts) to the

website and Discord Server.

I realize it’s a lofty goal to set out to build a thriving community of education reformers dedicated to improving it, one child at a time, but I have to try! This community represents that effort.

When you join, you’ll get the same central hub for all TRWL content produced from here on out.

This Substack account will remain, but I will stop updating it here, and will stop checking comments within the next week or two.

At The Reason We Learn Discord, you’ll get to:

  • Promote your own content

  • Meet and connect with others working to reform education

  • Chat privately with those people

  • Attend 2 private livestreams per week, M/F 1:00 PM Eastern, or watch private replays if you can’t make it live

  • Request topics for private livestreams

  • Attend 2 private community calls, with or without video, T/Th 1:00 PM Eastern

  • Private chat with me about your specific education questions and concerns

PLUS:

  • Access my curated collection of homeschooling curricula, how-to content, and recommended resources to help you understand what’s happening in our schools, and what you can do about it!

  • Take advantage of merchandise, tutoring and consulting discounts!

My self-interested reasons for relocating are as follows:

Central Distribution Hub - as a solo-creator, producing multiple types of content on a budget of $ZERO, the fewer places I have to update, the better! The less time I spend reformatting and publishing, on top of promoting my own content to the audiences who need and want it, the more time I have to research and create it in the first place!

More Support Overall Goes to ME - Those of you who are kind enough to subscribe may want to support Substack, I get that, but I prefer to produce content that supports me. Using the

platform allows me to pay a low flat fee for hosting, and only the Stripe fee for subscriptions. Here, Substack takes its cut from every subscription, no matter how much I produce, and then I pay the Stripe fees also.

Better, Less Expensive Technical Features - YouTube and Patreon allow members-only Livestreams, but they censor my content, and take a huge chunk of subscriber fees. Locals takes a little less, and doesn’t censor, but it’s clunky, has sound issues, no ability to share screen or have guests, and limits me as to how many I can host per month. None of them allow community calls. For that I was using Zoom, and to host for more than one hour at a time, I had to pay a hefty fee per month, which negated all the benefit of making them a subscriber benefit.

What I was using to produce and distribute my content, with the three I no longer need thanks to

crossed out.
Spotify
YouTube
Zoom
Locals
Substack

Additionally if you purchase merchandise through the quality is much better than my old store at Teespring, as is the customer service, and a much higher percentage of the profit goes to me too.

So, if part of your motivation for becoming a subscriber was to support my work, becoming a member there makes your dollar go father!

Thank you in advance for following me here, and for considering shifting your follow and support to The Reason We Learn

I hope to see you there soon!
