We know American education is broken—and we know we can do better.
This site helps you make sense of what’s happening in schools, education policy, and reform efforts. I dig into the trends, the language, and the ideology behind the headlines—because reacting without understanding is part of the problem.
If you stick around, you’ll notice I’m a stickler for language. I write and speak often about “eduspeak”—those buzzwords and phrases that sound helpful but often conceal something harmful (or at best, meaningless). If you’ve ever read something from your child’s school and thought, “What does that even mean?”, you’re in the right place. I’ll probably already have written about it—or will, if you ask.
This work isn’t glamorous. It involves research, reading (some of it mind-numbingly bureaucratic, some borderline absurd), and translation. I do it because I care—deeply—about kids, about truth, and about this country. I believe children deserve to grow up with the tools to live in the world as it is, not just dream about what it could be “unburdened by what has been.”
Most of my content is free, and I update regularly. I believe this work should be accessible to anyone who needs it. But if you find value here, I hope you’ll consider a paid subscription.
If you’re not ready to commit, but still want to support what I’m doing, you can also Buy Me a Coffee—every bit helps keep this going.
I’m a one-person team doing the research, writing, video/audio production, and promotion—while making myself basically unemployable for saying what I believe under my real name.
Your support makes this work possible.
